Let me tell you about my next release, due out in December 2010. I wrote Abigail cottage over 20 years ago, when typewriters were the norm and telex machines sent messages through the ether. Ladies, remember the white out tape?? The endless reams of A4 paper that you had to snail mail to publishers? Wow, how time has moved on. I for one, bow down in thanks to the great internet developers, who have brought to my lounge some wonderful friends without faces. I’ve become closer to my internet friends than I am to my actual physical ones. Is it because we need to make more of an effort as we only have writing as a communication? Face to face we can hug, pat, make tea, be generally kind and helpful. Across the ether we have to rely on words more than actions. I’m very thankful for friends without faces.
Anyway, I digress. People who know me, also know I have a great problem writing love scenes. I am the proverbial close the door and leave it to the imagination writer...sigh...BUT, when I wrote Abigail Cottage I added love making scenes. Not steaming, make you sweat, hot under the collar ones, but enough to drive my point home. (Excuse the pun.) I give great homage to the erotica writers out there. Give me your power!! Lol
So what is a DARK paranormal? It is all your fears of the unknown rolled into one novel of extraordinary length. It started off as 3000 pages. Don’t ask me to calculate the word count. Over the years it was hacked, rewritten and then hacked again. It’s now down to just over 300 pages. I try to install a message in all my books. It’s the spiritualist within me. She forces me to not waste a single opportunity lol. The message in this one is, do you really know the person you love?
How many of us hear the words, I never thought he/she would do that or it was so out of character for him/her to stab, chop, punch or generally terrorise the public. When Abigail falls in love with Justin she can’t begin to know the world of hurt she is heading into. Gorgeous, kind, rich – he’s the man we all dream to meet. BUT, all is not what it seems, because Justin is a true demon from hell, disguised as a mortal being. He wants her and will do anything, kill or maim anyone who tries to stop him. Namely Shaun the real hero, who wants Abigail more! So what does a mortal man do against a demon? He enlists the help of a gypsy of course. But not any old gypsy. Rosa knows Justin very well and has the powers of the spirit world on her side to fight him. Using crystals as a powerful weapon, the light of the spirit world to lead them, they embark on a battle with the whole of the underworld.
Many loved ones will lose their lives. This isn’t a book where everyone survives. In life, bad things happen. In Abigail Cottage, terrible tragedies happen too. Look out for Abigail Cottage in December and believe that not every story has a happy ending.
There is now a cover poll here.
When you get a moment and vote for which cover you think should go with my new, dark paranormal release, Abigail cottage.
Thanks.
I am now interviewing a real life demon. Am I scared? You bet your life I am.
M. Good morning Justin. Thank you for coming today, I know your busy getting ready to kill every mortal being.
J. Not every being Margaret. A selected few.
M. So tell me, why is Abigail so important to you?
J. She is everything I desire. For over a hundred years I have tried to recreate a vessel for my wife to come back to, using her descendants.
M. How do you do that?
J. By using a spell from the lowlanders. It drives out the spirit of an unborn child, changes its image to that of my wife and makes a vessel for her spirit to enter.
M. But what happens when your wife doesn’t return and use the vessel?
J. A dark soul takes the child and the mother dies.
M. Don’t you feel any remorse that you have killed so many innocents?
J. No. Why should I? They are just vessels.
M. Why isn’t Abigail a vessel?
J. Ah, she is different. She is pure, despite the brat she carries. I no longer have the patience to wait for my wife. Once Abigail’s child is born, eternity awaits us in purgatory.
M. Where will her child go?
J. He will die of course. He’s of no use to me. I’m finished with questions. Abigail needs me. Her time has come. The brat arrives and I must prepare for battle.
M. Do you think you can win?
J. Darkness always has a place in this world. It lies within every mortal. Of course I will win.
So I leave Justin to wreak havoc in the world and leave you with one question. What would you do faced if you were faced with purgatory?

I have to say I am really intrigued by this, Mags. Great interview with the demon! I'd love to read Abigails Cottage!

Whoa, this one sounds really creepy and dark. Of course in a good way. The characters are intriguing. Looks like this one will be on my Christmas list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us meet Justin.
Your 'interview' with the demon, Justin is chilling with his lack of emotion. Even if he has waited so long for the love he lost he doesn't care about the people he killed or their loved ones, especially with them being the descendants of the one he considers his own true love.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what she would think?
I hope everything turns out well for Abigal!
It was interesting to read and thanks for doing it even though you were scared. ;)
I enjoyed your interview with Jason. He is so heartless but interesting.
